Exaile 3.4.5 Is A Music Player Based On Amarok 1.4

As you may know, Exaile is a free, open-source, cross-platform music player, based on Amarok 1.4 and developed in GTK+.

It has support for playing the most popular audio file formats, it can manage web radio stations, import album art for songs and display lyrics, it has support for playbacking files via last.fm and has a multi-band equalizer.

The application includes the below plugins: cover art search (Last.fm, Amazon), iPod Support, Dynamic Playlists, Equalizer, Karaoke, ReplayGain, Desktop Cover, Mini Mode, Moodbar, Multimedia Keys, LyricsMania, Icecast Radio, Podcasts, AudioScrobbler, NotifyOSD, Streamripper, Group Tagger, Alarm Clock, Inhibit Suspend.

The latest version available is Exaile 3.4.5, which has been recently released, coming witha few changes only:

  • Errors loading Smart Playlists that filter based on a playlist
  • Missing icon issue
  • Disable equalizer by default

Installation instructions:

For Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf and Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, up to date Exaile packages are available via the default repos, so you only need to update the local repository index and install the exaile package:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install exaile

For Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.x and Elementary OS 0.3 Freya systems, the latest Exaile packages are available via some third party PPA, so installing the software is easy. All you need to do is add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the exaile package:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install exaile

Optional, to remove exaile, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove exaile
