Today, December 24, just in time for Christmas, Manjaro Linux developer Bernhard Landauer was very proud to announce the release and immediate availability for download of the first stable version of the Manjaro Linux Deepin Edition.
Based on the stable Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) operating system, Manjaro Linux Deepin 15.12 promises to bring users one of the best Deepin UI desktop experience. It is a community project, the result of months of hard work and hundreds of hours spent in front of computers to create a truly gorgeous computer OS for end-users and fans of Manjaro Linux.
“My thanks fly out to this awesome community that infected me with this originally quite an insane idea and then kept pushing, correcting, motivating and encouraging me for more than 3 months until it finally seemed possible to achieve this,” said Bernhard Landauer. “Then of course, without some exceptional people at Arch and Deepin, this would not have been possible at all, especially fasheng, felixonmars, mmetak and jouyouyun.”
Powered by Linux kernel 4.1 LTS
The Manjaro Linux Deepin 15.12 Edition is powered by the same kernel packages that are available in Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella), Linux kernel 4.1 LTS (Long-Term Support), which means that it offers support for the latest hardware components available on the market, including the most recent laptops and desktops. The distribution also includes all the Manjaro Linux 15.12 goodies, such as Manjaro-Welcome, Manjaro-Settings-Manager, Manjaro-Printer, as well as the Calamares, Thus and CLI installers.
Additionally, the OS includes a great selection of open source applications, among which we can mention Chromium, Evolution, LibreOffice, Nautilus, Xarchiver, GIMP, Evince, Gthumb, Xfburn, XSane, Yaourt, GParted, PulseAudio, Galculator, Dconf-Editor, Isousb, Pamac, and optional Mutter, Gala or Metacity window managers. There are also many Deepin goodies included, such as Deepin-Terminal, Deepin-Screenshot, Deepin-Movie, Deepin-Music, Deepin-Game, and Lightdm-Deepin-Greeter.
