HotShots 2.2.0 Is A Lightweight Screenshot Tool With Basic Photo Manipulation Features

As you may already know, HotShots is a lightweight screenshot tool with editing options. It supports photo resize and crop and allows the users to easily upload the screenshots to either FTP or image hosting sites like imgur.com imageshack.us and freeimagehosting.net.

Also, it can start in notification tray, run at reboot or display splash screen at startup.

The latest version available is Hotshots 2.2.0, which brings a few fixes only:

  • Restore last selection in region and freehand grabbing
  • Add options to display or not dialog before/after download

    Installation instructions:

    Up to date packages are available via some third party PPA, so installing the software on Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.x and Elementary OS 0.3 Freya systems should not cause too many problems.

    All you need to do is add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the hotshots package:

    $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:anton+/photo-video-apps
    $ sudo apt-get update
    $ sudo apt-get install hotshots

    Optional, to remove hotshots, do:

    $ sudo apt-get remove hotshots
