Ubuntu Phone Devs Begin Work on All the New Features for the OTA-10 Update

According to Mr. Zemczak, who was slightly injured on a hand during practice (we wish him to get well soon), the testing of the soon-to-be-released Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 update continues, all week long, and the team of talented developers at Canonical will prepare the second re-spin of the Release Candidate (RC) image, which will include, as promised yesterday, the new Camera app.

“Today’s e-mail will be rather quick – mostly because I slightly injured my hand during practice making it a bit annoying to type on the keyboard right now! OTA-9 testing continues. We will be doing another quick re-spin in the rc channel today to pull in the latest camera-app from the store. There will be another one around tomorrow with all the new translations too,” says Łukasz Zemczak, Ubuntu Foundations.

Work on OTA-10 begins

While the testing of the forthcoming Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 software update continues in the background, the development team has already started working on implementing new features for the next major release, the OTA-10. For starters, they have pushed new versions of the Unity Scopes MediaScanner, Trust Store, and persistent-cache-cpp components in the overlay for the rc-proposed channel, which is open for landings.

Łukasz Zemczak also informs us that, while the Ubuntu QA team is busy testing the candidate images of the OTA-9 update, they will try to make time for some daily silo testing in the coming days. Tomorrow we will have more news on the OTA-9 progress if Mr. Zemczak feels well enough to write his always-informative daily report, but in the meantime, you can read all about the upcoming Ubuntu Tablet device from BQ.
