Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.2 Launches March 11, 2016, First RC Build Out Now

Unfortunately, the release announcement does not share any insights on what was implemented in the Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.2.0 Release Candidate 1 build of the open source software used by default in numerous Linux kernel-based operating systems, so our tech-savvy users will need to download the source archive for the changelog.

In the brief announcement, Mr. Velikov informs us about the fact that the Mesa team’s plan is to push a new release candidate build to public testers each Friday. However, there are only three RC versions left for the Mesa 11.2 release cycle, and the users should expect the RC2 build later this week, on February 26.

“The first release candidate for Mesa 11.2.0 is now available. The plan is to have one release candidate every Friday, until the final release on March 11th, 2016,” said Emil Velikov, a software release engineer working for Collabora. “The expectation is that the 11.1 branch will remain alive with bi-weekly releases until after 11.2.1 release.”

Mesa 11.2 lands on March 11

The development cycle of the Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.2 will continue with a third RC (Release Candidate) build on Friday, March 4, and it will conclude with the fourth Release Candidate version, as well as the final release of the software on March 11, 2016.
